They say unto him, “Cæsar’s.” Then saith he unto them, “Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which are Cæsar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.” When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way. Matthew – Pretty slick. The God of Small Things is a heart-rending story about seven years old Estha and Rahel, two-egg twins. Estha and Rahel along with their Ammu (mother) live in their maternal grandparents’ house in Ayemenem (Kerala) following Ammu’s divorce.

The story of the tragic decline of an Indian family whose members suffer the terrible consequences of forbidden love, The God of Small Things is set in the state of Kerala, on the southernmost tip of India. Armed only with the invincible innocence of children, the twins Rahel and Esthappen fashion a childhood for themselves in the shade of the wreck that is their family -- their lonely, lovely /5(74). “In twenty-seven concise chapters, God Is invites, equips, edifies, comforts, and challenges God’s people to know God better and love him more. This is Mark Jones at his best, combining his theological breadth and depth with his pastor’s heart.” Rosaria Butterfield, Former Professor of English, Syracuse University; author, The Gospel Comes with a House Key.

During his ministry Jesus told people to render unto “Cæsar the things which be Cæsar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s”. We also read of His response to the widow casting her mites into the treasury (Luke ). "Render unto Caesar" is the beginning of a phrase attributed to Jesus in the synoptic gospels, which reads in full, "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" (Ἀπόδοτε οὖν τὰ Καίσαρος Καίσαρι καὶ τὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ τῷ Θεῷ). The only reason God ordains the rights of a Caesar is for the sake of God.

Thus Peter says, “Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme or to governors as sent by him” (1 Peter ). GOD IN ALL THINGS is a follow up to that book written for a different world and a different spiritual climate.

This is a guidebook for the inner journey. It is about recognising God in the ordinary, in the joy and sadness of things, about knowing that God cannot be separated from whatever we experience/5(28). A new and most important light thrown by the Scriptures on the text, "Render unto Cæsar the things that are Cæsar's, and unto God the things that are God's," and also upon matters relating to this text.

The God of Small Things is nominally the story of young twins Rahel and Estha and the rest of their family, but the book feels like a million stories spinning out indefinitely; it is the product of a genius child-mind that takes everything in and transforms it in an alchemy of poetry.4/4(K).

Matthew Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV) 21 They say unto him, Cæsar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which are Cæsar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way. 25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar 's, and unto God the things which be God's. 26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

The things that are Cæsars rendered unto Cæsar, and the things that are God's, rendered unto God. By those that serve, and fear Him: and honour the King, who are true; and shew forth the way of God in truth, that heeds not the wrath of man; nor respects the persons of men; but owns the authority of God, and are subject to it for conscience sake.

There is a lot of things I can say about this book, but all I think I can truly say is that I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.

My favorite chapter was definitely Mary Magdalene's. Much of the Tanakh's retelling was great, too, especially of the kings and prophets/5. Book. Cancel {{#items}} {{human}} 17 And Jesus said unto them, Render unto Cæsar the things that are Cæsar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.

Verse - Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God' is as though our Lord said, "Since you Jews are now subject to Caesar - and there is here this evidence of it, that his coin is current amongst you; you would not use it were you not obliged, because all Gentile rites and symbols are an abhorrence to you; - but since Caesar demands nothing of.

Chapter VIII.—Answer to an objection, arising from the words of Christ (Matt. vi. 24). God alone is to be really called God and Lord, for He is without beginning and end.

1. This calumny, then, of these men, having been quashed, it is clearly proved that neither the prophets nor the apostles did ever name another God, or call [him] Lord, except the true and only God.unto cÆsar.
